For Art and Design this term, Mercury class have been learning about craft and design, and how it can be influenced by nature. Using the flora and fauna of tropical rainforests as a starting point, children develop drawings through experimentation and textile-based techniques to design a repeating pattern suitable for fabric. Children have studied the work of William Morris, using his inspiration of patterns to recreate their own works using his style. Here is a sample of some of their work this term.
