Living Land Show

On Wednesday 6th May, Mercury Class enjoyed an exciting trip to the Living Land Show at the Kent Showground in Detling. This visit built on our Autumn Geography unit on food, offering pupils a hands-on experience of farming, agriculture, horticulture and the countryside. Throughout the day, the children met a variety of farm animals, sampled local produce, and watched impressive farm machinery demonstrations. A particular highlight was the entertaining display by some dancing sheep! With over 2,800 children attending from across the county, the event showcased the vital role local producers play in the UK￿s food supply. Pupils also learnt why Kent is proudly known as the ￿Garden of England.￿ One pupil shared, ￿I loved seeing the animals up close and trying the fresh food￿it made me realise how much work goes into what we eat!￿ Below is a selection of the many activities we explored and the new knowledge we gained during our visit.
