Stick Insects

Insects are truly amazing and Saturn Class has been observing 'incomplete metamorphosis' of our pink-winged Madagascan stick insects. We have a nymph - an immature stick insect - and an adult who is laying eggs and can fly very well.  The class will follow the nymph's life journey through several moults until she grows her wings and starts to lay eggs. The adult (called Twiggy) is quite calm and the children have been learning how to gently handle her. Twiggy has flown across the classroom, landed on the prayer tree and pretended to be a stick!
