DT – Mechanical systems: Making a slingshot car

This term, Mercury class were set the challenge in Design and Technology to design and build a working slingshot car. Using a range of materials, children designed a car with a working slingshot mechanism and housed the mechanism using a range of nets for the car's body. The lessons first began with building the car chassis and launching mechanism. Children were then tasked with designing and making the car body to reduce air resistance. Finally, the children assembled and tested their completed product. Below are pictures and videos of our end results.
