Year 6 First Aid course with British Red Cross

On Monday 13th June, Year 6 benefitted from taking part in the British Red Cross’ Youth First Aid course.  During this course the children all learnt what to do in an emergency situation for example if someone was unconscious; cut themselves; bumped their head or fell down the stairs.

The children were all shown a photograph of an emergency situation and they had to then choose an everyday item that could help in that situation e.g. a jumper, tea-towel, packet of frozen peas.

At the end of the session the children learnt that if they came across an unconscious person they should check for breathing, put them in the recovery position and call 999.
